“through her luminous brilliant playing, she is able to express a lot of subtle nuances with great facility“ - S. Foucart.

Katerina Chrobokova’s  appearance on the international music scene is refreshing. The way she combines music from different periods and styles makes her performances quite special and her particular  interest in modern music has inspired composers to write for her. She has no fear of incorporating new pieces in her recitals, whether on the organ or harpsichord, and she thus does much to demonstrate the possibilities of modern music in general.

The basis for her approach is an excellent knowledge of different musical styles. She studies the scores to reproduce the composer’s intentions as faithfully as possible; for example, in 2007 and 2009 she was invited by the famous Belgian conductor Jos Van Immerseel to perform Bohuslav Martinů´s Concerto for Harpsichord and Small Orchestra and Francis Poulenc´s Concert Champetrê.

Following her success at the Oundle International Organ Festival in England, she was awarded five recitals at the international organ festivals and organ series in Warwick, Coventry, St. Albans, Cambridge and London (St. Pauls Cathedral) which were very favourably reviewed in The Organ journal with her cover photo. It was the start of a brilliant carrier. She has now given concerts and played at festivals in the Czech Republic (e.g. Prague Spring International Music Festival and others), Belgium (e.g. Klara Festival and others), Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, England, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Mexico (e.g.Festival de México en el Centro Histórico).

As a soloist she has cooperated with orchestras such as the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra Zlin, the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice and the Janacek Chamber Orchestra.

As a versatile musician she is also active in contemporary music projects and festivals and plays with other notable percussionists and ensembles,  e.g. Nieuw Trombone Collectief. She has given several world premieres of music by contemporary composers, e.g. at the Festival „Voor de Wind“ in Utrecht, where she performed a piece dedicated to her by the Mexican composer Juan Felipe Waller.

Her most important teachers were Martina Zelova at the Janacek Conservatoire in Ostrava, Kamila Klugarova (organ studies) , Barbara Maria Willi (harpsichord studies) at the Janacek Academy of Music in Brno (diploma Mg.A), Jan Raas at the Utrecht School of the Arts (Master degree), Reitze Smits at Lemmensinstituut in Leuven and Jesper Christensen at the Schola Cantorum in Basel.

She is currently studying in a Doctoral PhD. Study Programme under two supervisors - Ivo Medek at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and Ivanka Stoianova at L´Ecole Doctorale Esthétique, Sciences et Technologies des Arts (EDESTA) Université 8, Paris.

She has taken part in several international organ masterclasses  with highly regarded teachers and players such as Jean Guillou, Ludger Lohmann, Lorenzo Ghielmi and Jon Laukvik.

Since 2004 Katerina has been teaching at the Janacek Conservatoire in Ostrava. She is also invited  as tutor to various masterclasses or workshops (e.g. the International Summer School for Young Organists in Oundle and the Universtity of Glasgow)..

In October 2007 she recorded a CD for the Belgium label Passacaille records which was released in the Spring of 2008 and in 2009 with Anima Eterna Francis Poulenc´s Concert Champetrê for the French label Zig-Zag Territoires (distributor Harmonia Mundi) which has been released in April 2011.
